At KnowBe4, we understand that being a parent is a full-time job on its own, and when combined with a fulfilling career, it can be both rewarding and challenging. That's why we go above and beyond to cultivate a family-friendly workplace that empowers our employees to thrive both personally and professionally. In today’s blog post, we'll delve deeper into the various ways KnowBe4 supports our working parents!
One of our most active employee resource groups is the Knowster Parents ERG. This group serves as a valuable platform for parents to connect, share experiences, and provide each other with support and advice. It fosters a supportive and understanding network within the company, ensuring that our employees feel empowered and encouraged in both their professional and parental roles.
At KnowBe4, we believe that investing in the well-being of our employees ultimately results in a happier and more productive workforce, and we are committed to making a positive difference in their lives.
We are incredibly proud of our Knowster Parents ERG for their outstanding efforts in making a positive impact on the community. Recently, they organized a donation drive that yielded remarkable results, collecting over 320 pounds of clothing, shoes, and toys to donate to Clothes to Kids and We Rock the Spectrum! These organizations provide support and resources to children and their families, and we are honored to contribute to their cause. Our ERG members' dedication and hard work showcase the true spirit of giving back and making a difference!
At KnowBe4, we deeply value the well-being and happiness of our employees who are parents, and we strive to provide them with comprehensive benefits that support their journey through parenthood. One of the cornerstones of our commitment is our generous 8-weeks fully paid parental and adoption leave. We understand that those early moments with a newborn or newly adopted child are precious, and we want our employees to have the opportunity to cherish and bond with their little ones without worrying about work obligations. This paid leave not only fosters a positive work-life balance but also helps in reducing the stress and pressure that often accompany major life transitions.
In addition to parental leave, we go above and beyond to support our traveling parents who are breastfeeding. We recognize the importance of providing a nurturing environment for Knowster families, even when they are on business trips. To address this, we offer a unique benefit of breast milk shipping for traveling parents. This means that caregivers can easily send their breast milk back home while they are away, ensuring that their child's nutritional needs are met, and allowing them to focus on their work commitments with peace of mind.
Here at KnowBe4, we understand that adoption is a beautiful way of building a family, and we are committed to supporting our employees through this process. KnowBe4 offers adoption assistance to help alleviate some of the financial burdens associated with adoption. We believe that every child deserves a loving home, and we are proud to contribute to making the adoption journey smoother for our employees who choose this path.
KnowBe4 is proud to offer affordable healthcare plans that cover the entire family with competitive premiums. We also offer telehealth options that allow our employees and their families to have virtual doctor visits 24/7 without the hassle of packing the car and driving to the doctor or emergency room.
We offer a dependent care flexible spending account that allows employees to set aside pre-tax dollars to help pay for daycare services for their eligible dependents. We also work alongside a financial advisor that offers a 529 CollegeAmerica plan. CollegeAmerica is a tax-advantaged way to save for educational expenses, such as tuition, room and board, required equipment, books, and supplies for higher education, as well as K-12 tuition. Knowsters can open an account for anyone, no matter how much they earn, with low minimum contribution requirements available when opening an account.
KnowBe4 has partnered with WeeCare to provide all of our U.S. employees with access to a childcare concierge service. WeeCare is the largest childcare network in the United States, with the mission of providing access to affordable, high-quality, home-based childcare for all families. With this benefit, Care Managers are available 24/7 to help our employees find the right childcare provider for their families.
We reached out to some Knowsters to ask them about their experience as a working parent at KnowBe4, and this is what they had to say:
“Last year, my family received the news that our 6-month-old son had multiple congenital heart diseases that required open heart surgery. It was the scariest news we could have imagined. Not only was the Knowster Parents employee resource group there for our family for emotional support throughout the whole process, but these incredible coworkers came together and donated towards the hospital bill and even sent us food! Fast forward to today, Luca is turning 2 and is healthy and thriving! I am so incredibly grateful to this company, the Knowster Parents ERG, and the caring people who helped get our family through those trying times.” - Marcie, Director of Expansion
"Parenting and working - trying to balance and be great in both areas for me is a lot like trying to balance spinning plates. If you only focus on one at a time - the rest starts to topple. I've had to learn, and I am still very much learning, to step back and look at the big picture. My kids and my family are my why, which keeps me motivated at work. My work is an asset to sustain our home life.
Enjoy the ups, learn from the downs, and have gratitude for what's truly important. At the end of it all, I want them to remember why I do what I do and give them a great foundation to do that for their families, too!" - Joe, Director of Revenue Development Global
“When I started at KnowBe4, I was pregnant with my first child. Everyone was so supportive during that time. Between a flexible schedule and time off to spend with my newborn, I was extremely grateful. Since becoming a parent, I joined the Knowster Parents employee resource group and have learned so much from the other parents. Now I always have a place to go to for questions, tips, and tricks when needed!” - Sierra, Senior Team Expansion Specialist I
