James Dyer is the Threat Intelligence Lead at KnowBe4, where he spearheads a research team focused on a wide range of cybersecurity domains, including social engineering, open-source intelligence (OSINT), organizational human-risk assessment, and the emerging ways cybercriminals are leveraging artificial intelligence. His work drives KnowBe4’s intelligence-led approach to strengthening the human layer of security by uncovering real-world attacker tactics and translating them into actionable insights for global organizations.

James oversees initiatives to examine sophisticated phishing tactics, spot high-risk social engineering patterns, and monitor the developing capabilities of AI-enabled cyberthreats. He has extensive experience with threat analysis, adversary behavior, and attacker tradecraft. He is in high demand as a speaker for both technical audiences and senior leadership because of his exceptional ability to concisely convey complex intelligence.

James is skilled in multiple languages of programming and has a Bachelor of Science in Digital Forensics and Cybersecurity from the University of Gloucestershire. He uses these abilities to reverse engineer malicious payloads, create research tools, and assess attacker techniques on a large scale.
