Free social media risk sharing training course offered to the public to celebrate
National Cyber Security Awareness Month

To kick off National Cyber Security Awareness Month, KnowBe4, the provider of the world’s largest security awareness training and simulated phishing platform, today announced a free “Risks of Social Media Sharing” course during the month of October.

Now in its 15th year, National Cyber Security Awareness Month is celebrated each year in October. It was created as a collaborative effort between government and industry leaders to ensure every American has the resources they need to stay safer and more secure online.RisksOfSocialMediaSharing

“Social media brings people together, but it’s naïve to think there are not growing risks with sharing so much online. Users share their every move on sites like Facebook and Twitter, leaving them open to social engineering and other threats, so it’s crucial for them to learn the risks of what they share,” said Stu Sjouwerman, CEO, KnowBe4. “Our “Risks of Social Media Sharing” course is designed to cover the dangers associated with sharing certain content, including malicious links, on social media websites. We’re pleased to offer this to the public free of charge to celebrate National Cyber Security Awareness Month.”

The KnowBe4 “Risks of Social Media” course covers security problems that can arise from common social media usage, including posting personal information that can later be used to manipulate users with social engineering tactics. It includes a series of five scenarios presented as actions/decisions a user can make when using popular social media platforms, as well as the tools and the potential consequences of each. Users will gain an understanding of how to use social media safely and securely – without putting themselves or their organization at risk.
