Recently, KnowBe4 held a plant swap involving eight of our global offices: Clearwater, Dubai, Berlin, Kochi, Leeds, London, Utrecht, and Cape Town.
We asked employees to bring a plant to swap or simply take one home to share some plant love with their fellow Knowsters. To call it a success is an understatement, with 53 people participating in the U.S. alone, sharing both indoor and outdoor plants.
Improving HealthThis event was more than just a fun way to exchange greenery; it was a chance to highlight the many benefits that plants provide, both for us and the environment.
Plants improve our physical and mental health. A single mature tree can absorb up to 48 pounds of CO2 per year and produce enough oxygen for two people daily. They have been shown to boost the immune system, lower blood pressure, and reduce stress. Exposure to trees and plants can also improve mood and accelerate recovery from illness.

The plant swap also served as a great team-building exercise that strengthened our company culture. Events like these, which bring people together around shared values and impactful experiences, demonstrate how our company's values extend beyond the workplace. They foster connections and create a more engaged and productive workforce.
"The plant swap was such a fun way to bring our company together! For weeks leading up to it everyone was buzzing about what they might propagate…It was great to see people proudly showing off their indoor and outdoor plant babies. Personally I came away with a mango tree that is going to be the start of my own little fruit farm!" - Marissa Fassino

Studies show that offices with plants see a 15% increase in productivity and a 25% improvement in employee well-being. This initiative is a perfect example of how small actions can lead to a larger positive impact, both personally and professionally.
