KnowBe4's 2023 Earth Day theme was "Earth Month!" We had new initiatives each week to celebrate sustainability that promoted environmental awareness in our offices around the globe. From our Clearwater, Florida headquarters to our Singapore office, let’s check out all of the fun ways KnowBe4 celebrated Earth Month!

Cleaning Up At Our Global Headquarters

Our Clearwater, Florida, Knowsters spent their lunch break cleaning up the streets surrounding our global headquarters. Over 50 Knowsters helped collect trash! When everyone returned from the cleanup, lunch was served, and Knowsters were entered into a special raffle contest for cleanup participants to win some reusable swag.

During and after the cleanup, we hosted a sustainable pop-up market right in the lobby of our headquarters! The market vendors included small businesses for local plants, handmade jewelry, nature art, up-cycled gifts, handmade candles, and artisan soaps. Over 200 people attended the market! Chris, Talent Brand Marketing Manager, says, "Today was lots of fun, super sustainable, and left me feeling positive for the future of our Earth and ready to do more!"

Park Cleanup in York, United Kingdom

Our York, U.K. Knowsters also participated in our Earth Day festivities! Employees volunteered their time to collect litter and garbage around the park, helping to keep the environment clean and protect wildlife. This event was a great success and served as a reminder of the importance of taking care of our planet!

"I am committed to investing in our planet and doing whatever I can to be more eco-friendly. Our sustainability group, EarthBe4, provides me with so many great opportunities to make a positive difference in our environment!"
-Sharon, People & Culture Coordinator, York, U.K.

Beach Cleanup in Singapore, Singapore

Our Knowsters in Singapore organized a beach cleanup event and encouraged their families to participate. Participants were provided with gloves, trash bags, and trash grabbers to collect all types of litter from the beach. This event not only helped to clean up the beach, but it brought our Knowsters and their families together as a team working together towards a common goal of protecting their environment.

Planting Trees in São Paulo, Brazil

Knowsters in Brazil celebrated Earth Day by planting trees with students at a local school. This initiative not only helped in creating awareness about the importance of preserving nature; it also instilled a sense of responsibility towards the environment in the young minds of the students. We are so proud of our Knowsters in Brazil for taking steps towards creating a sustainable future and promoting a greener lifestyle!

Plants for Knowsters in Kochi, India

Our Knowsters in India cleaned up around their office and were each given a plant afterward! Plants help clean the air naturally, reduce stress, and increase productivity in the workplace. Making our office greener is great for the Earth and our Knowsters, too!

Taking Care of Our Planet Beyond Earth Day

In addition to the cleanup events, our sustainability team organized a series of sustainability challenges for all Knowsters to participate in! These challenges encouraged everyone to make simple changes in their daily routines that can have a big impact on the environment. Here's what some of the weekly challenges entailed:

Earth Day Planting Week 1: Plant Flowers for Pollinators - Knowsters reported what they planted and were entered to win prizes.

Week 2: Show off Your Plants - To celebrate International Plant Appreciation Day on April 13th, Knowsters were challenged to upload photos of their favorite plants to win prizes.

Week 3: Earth Day Cleanup/Dress Up - In addition to our global cleanups, we also encouraged Knowsters to dress up in Earth Day attire and coordinate their own cleanup to win prizes! This helped to get remote employees involved so they could also participate in the Earth Day festivities.

Week 4: Plant a Tree for Arbor Day - Arbor Day is April 28th, and to celebrate, we asked Knowsters to plant a tree or donate to a local organization that is planting trees to be entered into a contest to win prizes.

Although Earth Day may be over, our Knowsters aren't finished investing in our planet. Members of our sustainability group, EarthBe4, organize cleanups all year round! It’s clear that our Knowsters take every opportunity they can to invest in our planet beyond the month of April. Lael, Director of Facility Services & Sustainability, shared how we can all start living more sustainably every single day.

“My advice is to start with something that really speaks to you. For example, if you care about wildlife, try eliminating pesticides in your yard or picking up garbage in your neighborhood. Remember, every little bit of effort counts!”
-Lael, Director of Facility Services and Sustainability, Clearwater, Florida, U.S.

We are proud of our Knowsters for taking steps towards a more sustainable future every day. Join our journey to make the world a better place!

Work for an organization that values sustainability!
