Are you aware that many of the email addresses of your organization are exposed and easy to find for cybercriminals? With these addresses they can launch spear phishing attacks on your organization. This type of attack is very hard to defend against, unless your users are highly ‘security awareness’ trained. Here is how these scams go down:

  1. Criminals in Eastern Europe send phishing emails.
  2. An employee clicks on an email and infects their PC with malware.
  3. The malware records the victim’s keystrokes, which allows the network to be hacked.
  4. The cyber criminals use this data to take over the victim’s bank accounts.
  5. They transfer money to accounts set up by people with fake IDs, called “money mules”.
  6. The mules keep a percentage and transfer the rest out of the country.
